The narrative on comparative urbanism is dominated by Anglocentric literature and tends to overlook vernacular urbanisms of the Global South. While feminist comparative urbanism seeks to use social reproduction as a tool to analyse the urban and acknowledges ‘relational connectedness’ (Ware 1992, p. 119 as cited in Peake et al 2021) across places – it is yet to seek out similarities between these vernacular urbanisms within and beyond the Global South. Thus there is a need to momentarily pause the discussion on feminist urban comparative research and ask – “Are our urban stories comparable and translatable?”. This presentation puts forward this question in the hope of augmenting the discussion on feminist urban comparative research by forging solidarities built on similitudes of our urban stories and experiences.
