The powerloom industry has traditionally been an important part of Indian economy in terms of earning, employment and foreign exchange. Powerloom sector is the only sector wherein one finds large number of women producing products which are used by large number of women. The powerloom industry of Ambedkarnagar district is based on household industry running from one generation to another generation and belongs to Ansari Muslim community. Women in weaving household do not weave but made crucial contribution to industry and family income in pre-weaving activity and products finishing. Sometimes they work as unpaid workers and sometime they paid for finishing the woven products but at a very low cost. Household environment of population is often a direct reflection of their living conditions and socio-economic development. Some aspects like health, education, efficiency of work force and their families are directly affected by household conditions. Present study aims to analyse health conditions of female weaver in powerloom industry and to examine the work conditions such as wage, working hours, nature of work and work environment of female weavers. The study is based on primary sources of data which have been collected with the help of questionnaire technique through field survey at household level. On the basis of Purposive random sampling total 200 powerloom female weavers have been surveyed from 20 powerloom units situated in Tanda and Jalalpur blocks. The data has been analysed by using Karl Pearson correlation technique and t-test. Results show that gradual decline in powerloom industry has badly affected the income of weavers and female work participation has increased as well as increase in per day working hours, resulted more health issues.
