The Central European landscape has undergone extensive changes since the beginning of the 19th century. Various driving forces, including industrialisation and various political decisions, have led to processes that have profoundly affected society, landscape character and cultural heritage. For the territory of the Czech Republic, several types of historical land use/landscape cover data sources can be used to assess long-term landscape changes and to find trajectories of landscape dynamics. In particular, the study uses the LUCC Czechia database based on cadastral records from 1845, 1896, 1948, 1990, 2000, 2020 at the cadastral level and archival stable cadastral maps (scale 1 : 2880) for the parcel level to define and present an expert based typology of landscape dynamics in the Czech Republic from 1845 to the present. Maps of landscape change types for the whole territory of the Czech Republic have been created, showing significant differences in landscape changes in different time periods based on different driving forces. At the parcel level, thirty model areas across the Czech Republic were selected as typical representatives of different types of landscape change, which were compared and evaluated using cluster analysis. The results show different trends of landscape dynamics based mainly on the increase or decrease of human activities in the landscape.
