The annual IESE Cities in Motion Index takes into account 77 indicators, covering ten distinct dimensions of urban life: the economy, technology, human capital, social cohesion, international outreach, the environment, mobility and transportation, urban planning, public management, and governance. Discussing about smart cities various issues of need of such cities in the world of globalization and sustainability assessment is requirement of time. Therefore, the present study is a need and sustainability assessment of smart, green and resilient cities.
Source material for the present work is twofold: a review of the available literature on smart cities problems, challenges and opportunities, whereas the second source is in-depth analysis of secondary data regarding dimensions of smart city development like economy, technology, social cohesion, international outreach, the environment, mobility and transportation, urban planning, public management, and governance. Subsequently, an analysis would be made to what extent Asian cities can be scrutinized at the above-mentioned nine dimensions.
