Formative dialogues with teachers from lower south Bahia - Brazil: Promoting the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals in Biogeography teaching

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development was adopted in 2015 by 193 Member States of the United Nations, resulting in the creation of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and 169 global action targets to achieve by 2030 the eradication of poverty, hunger, expansion of access to health, equitable and quality education, social justice, inclusive, sustainable economic growth and peace and prosperity for present and future generations. The objectives and their goals are integrated and indivisible and balance the three dimensions of sustainable development: economic, social, and environmental1. SDG 4 aspires to inclusive and equitable quality education and the promotion of lifelong learning opportunities for all. Achieving inclusive, quality education for all reaffirms the belief that education is one of the most powerful and proven vehicles for sustainable development. Holistic and transformative Education for Sustainable Development has the general objective of developing transversal sustainability skills, supporting all efforts to achieve the SDGs, enabling individuals to contribute to sustainable development, motivating social, economic and political transformation, as well as by changing their own behavior2,3. For biogeography teachers to promote the SDGs it is necessary that they have knowledge about sustainable development, the different SDGs and the topics and challenges related to their implementation in their local, national and global context4.The present work presents preliminary results of a study that seeks to verify, in the context of biogeography, the 2030 agenda and its SDGs to teachers of schools in lower south Bahia - Brazil through pedagogical workshops. the promotion of participatory programs for continuing teacher education related to education for sustainability and education for global citizenship. Spreading the knowledge and implementation of the SDGs in classrooms.
