The presented research deals with the transformation of the Czech landscape in the last 30 years. The aim of the research was to find out, document and analyze the development of several different types of landscapes based on case studies from different localities within the whole Czechia on the core-semiperiphery-periphery gradient based on selected methods of historical geography research. The change of these landscapes was examined based on available data materials mostly from the aerial imagery, statistical sources, and other historical-geographical sources. The transformation of the landscape was monitored in 4 different areas. On one side, one suburban area in the hinterland of ??the capital of Prague was analysed, where strong increase in the share of built-up and other areas has been recorded in the last 30 years, especially at the expense of agricultural land. Another locality on the same core level influenced by intensive human activities is the area of ??brown coal surface mines in the Most region, where the mining of this mineral completely changed the face of the local landscape in the last 200 years. Otherwise, mining is still taking place here, but in many places the landscape affected by mining has already been or is being reclaimed in the last 30 years. The landscape in southern Moravia was investigated further as a semi-peripheral locality. This is specifically the intensively farmed landscape of the Valtice, which is typical by the cultivation of grapevine. The least intensity of landscape changes was assessed here. The last study area (peripheral) is in the north-east of Bohemia, and it has been characterized by the increase of the rather natural areas, especially of forests and permanent grasslands. The grasslands here gradually replaced the areas of the former coal mines. Significantly different intensity and types of landscape changes were found at the different levels of the mentioned gradient, as well as different causes of these changes.
