Plastic waste problem is a fastest growing and a very big problem globally which effects
environment. Approximately 1-10% plastic has become a significant component of solid waste
in recent years, reason is domestic and industrial places generate large amounts of plastic waste.
Serious environmental problems occur when plastic waste burns open on the roadside or in
illegal dumpsites. Plastic represents latest contamination in the marine environment while
increased use(we produce about 300 million tonnes of plastic waste every year, that is nearly
equivalent to the weight of the entire human population) of plastic has led to negative
environmental impacts. The main area of this proposal is to identify and monitor of plastic debris
patches on land using geospatial technology from freely available high resolution satellite
Sentinel-2 image. Also initiate the best suitable site for dumping zones for solid waste and
analyses the spatial arrays of solid waste dumping zones in major cities of the central Gangetic
plain such as Prayagraj, Banaras and Kanpur which are highly populous, and industrial place also
has religious importance.0
