Some places are alivein the memory, because they are linked both to disasters and consequences are often still felt today many years later. We can classify these places according to the causes that led to the disasters. First of all, industrial activities. One of the word's seriuos disasters was that of Bhopal, which occurred on th night of 2-3 December 1984 at a peticide plant in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India. Over 500,000 people were exposed to methyl isocyannate gas. On 10 July 1976 the company Icmesa of Meda dispersed dioxin. Seveso and many municipalities in Brianza were effected by the event. On March 28, 1979, the Three Mile island Nucelar Power Plant in Pennsylvania released small quantities of radioactive gases and radioactive iodine into the environment, with very serious damage. The Chernobyl nuclear disaster of 26 April 1986 is considered the mot serious accident in the history of civil nuclear power. Like the Fukushima disaster of 11 March 2011, it is ranked at the highest level on the INES catastrophic scale. Among the place names remembered for disasters due to poor management of the territory, I must point out the case of Lavarone near the Vajont stream. The Vajont disastr occurred on 9 October 1963, in the artificial hydroelectric basin of the Vajont stream in the homonymous valley. A landslide caused the flouding of many villages, including Lavarone, and the death of 1 917 people. The places involved in war tragedies are very numerous. Just I remember the atomic bomb of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. On the morning of August 6, 1945, the US Air Force dropped the Little Boy atomic bomb on the city of Hiroshima and three days later by the lanch of the Fat Man bomb on Nagasaki. The number of direct victims was between 150 000 and 200 000 people. Among the names of places plagued by attacks is New York, on 11 September 2011, with the destruction of the Twin Towers and a radial change in our habits.
