This research analyzes the results and the discussion that took place in 2021 at the international seminar on Local and Regional Aspects of Natural Hazards, under the auspices of the IGU Commission for Local and Regional Development and the Bulgarian National Scientific Program "Environmental Protection and Risk Reduction from Adverse Events and Natural Disasters". It reviews twenty-four presentations and seven posters, dedicated to diverse local and national dimensions and impacts of natural hazards from Ukraine and Bulgaria. The applied methods vary from the methodology of the Inter-American Development Bank for Assessment and Analysis of the Risk of Natural Disasters to the regional analyses in the first in Ukraine electronic Atlas of Natural, Technogenic, and Social Hazards and Risks of Emergencies which address the gaps in the Risk Management System of the country. Landslides, earthquakes, droughts, floods (channel and fast-flowing), storms, and winter meteorological phenomena (snowfall, ice), with proven negative consequences in the municipalities and areas under study feature among the disaster processes and phenomena. In addition to the significant fundamental outcomes, the research often signifies concrete solutions and innovative approaches for management of the territory and communities in case of a natural disaster. The broad application of interdisciplinary approaches also highlights the significant advantages of geographical investigations in this field, as well as their practical relevance for national, regional and local territorial planning and land use.
