The agribusiness products, from different sets of aggregate factors (basic, manufactured and semi-manufactured), in recent years, have taken up prominent positions in the export agenda of the states in the southern region of Brazil (Paraná, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul). For example, the case of products of animal origin (chicken, pigs, leather) and of vegetable origin (soy, tobacco, wood). The export agenda in Brazil has shown significant growth and participation of basic products in relation to those with greater added value. This is a reflection of economic policies and the behavior of the Brazilian industrial park, in addition to the international situation. Thus, the study aims to analyze the profile of the export agenda of the three southern states in the two decades after the adoption of the floating exchange rate regime in Brazil (1999-2021). This is an exploratory and descriptive research, with a quantitative approach and documentary analysis. Annual raw data were obtained from the Special Secretariat for Foreign Trade and International Affairs of the Ministry of Economy (BRASIL, 2021). According to Mamigonian (2018), the exchange policy, since the FHC government, has generated predatory imports and the country's deindustrialization, which is ongoing to this day. Martins and Rocha (2021) demonstrated the influence of exchange rates on foreign trade and exports in general, which in turn are reflected in exports from the South Region. These are equally related to external factors (economic crises, market demands, etc.) and internal factors (economic, fiscal and monetary policy, etc.) pointed out by Rangel (2005). In the last two decades, it was verified that agribusiness products started to occupy the first places in southern exports, even determining changes in international destination markets, highlighting the increase in sales to China.
