The search for authenticity and human contact become essential and highly sought after values in travel, especially after the pandemic. In Italy these two elements can certainly be found in the villages, which, moreover, are currently in a serious state of neglect and therefore at the moment not attractive to tourism. The paper tries to analyze the factors that have brought these places to this state and proposes a new methodology of tourist enhancement, aimed at forming the network of villages for innovative forms of use of resources.
