The research examines the importance and development of digital competencies of primary school geography teachers on the territory of the Republic of Serbia and their importance for the preparation and implementation of successful teaching. The research will show why digital literacy is important for teaching geography and how ready, trained, and professional teachers are in the application of modern technology in their classes.
The main instrument for data collection and evaluation of digital competencies of teachers is a modified and adapted European framework for the digital competence of teachers (DigCompEdu).
The obtained results will show the proficiency level of geography teachers in Serbia when it comes to digital competencies, what are problems they face with and to what extent do they use digital tools in teaching.
This research is unique in the territory of Serbia because the assessment of digital competencies of teachers was not conducted before, according to the proposed framework.
