In the Central-Southern Apennines it is possible to speak of a real cultural heritage linked to linear systems of medium and long distance, which is attributed not only an instrumental and service value but also a conformative and relational value of the spaces crossed; cattle-track, paths, paths and the capillary paths in history and are sedimented in the mountain landscape. The heritage includes tangible and intangible assets: linear systems, monuments, historic centers, traditional landscapes, folk elements and practices, lifestyles. An evocative and emotional landscape, observed and reproduced by intellectuals such as E. Lear (1843-1844), MC Escher (1928-29), who carried out a real tour with many and close contemplative stops, immersing themselves in these properly picturesque and capturing the unique aspects of physical, natural, and anthropogenicity. The municipality of Gagliano Aterno, in agreement with the Sirente Velino Regional Park, within the drafting of the regulatory plan and the opportunities of the PNRR, proposes the new regeneration of ancient paths that linked the community to the nearby agro-pastoral landscape. This initiative is part of a larger project shared by other municipalities on the path taken by E. Lear in the half '800, which took him from the Fucino plain to the Peligna plain. Retracing these itineraries leads to learn about individual landscapes or architectural and monumental emergencies, but above all the relationships that have historically been established between them. The paper proposes a reflection on the project of contemporary tours on ancient routes for slow, experiential and environmental tourism; on participatory decision-making processes and negotiations between different administrative realities, networked by an initiative for the redevelopment of common goods, which involves not only the revitalization of the tourism sector in the fragile mountain areas, but also the strengthening of common local identities.
