     Call for session

    The call for sessions for Paris 2022 International Geographic Union Centennial Congress (18-22 July 2022) is now open. 
    The Centennial Congress is a good opportunity to explore the main lines of evolution experienced by the geographical discipline and the different perspectives that are opening up to it, around the theme "Time for Geographers". 

    Important deadlines
    The deadline for the session proposals is July 31, 2021 October 1st, 2021
    The announcement of the accepted sessions is expected by August 31, 2021 November 2nd,2021

    Due to the high number of submissions at the same time, the platform will be open until midnight on 3 October (Paris time, GMT + 2).

    Two types of sessions

    The proposals can be of two different kinds. They can either be included in:

    - The theme of the 2022 congress, "Time for Geographers", see the call for sessions here
    In this case, the proposals will be assessed and managed by the scientific committee of the Congress.

    - The perimeter of one the International Geographic Union’s commissions, see commissions list here.
    In this case, the proposals will be assessed and managed by the chairs of the various commissions.
      
     Instructions for authors
     
    1. Session Format
      During the submission, you could choose your session format (virtual or online).
      If you submit a virtual session, all your expected authors will need to submit abstracts under the same format.
       
    2. Duration
      We kindly remind you that sessions can cover one timeslot (105 minutes) or expand, according to the number of communications, on several timeslots within the limits of 4 timeslots. 
      It is also not possible to organise more than one session for one person.
       
    3. Translation
      Oral presentations (as well as the debates during the sessions) can be delivered in one of the three following languages: English, French or Spanish. However, sessions’ proposals should be submitted in English or in French. 
      Please note that the Congress will not provide simultaneous or consecutive translation during the sessions. The sessions’ organisers will be in charge of the management of the eventual multilingualism of their sessions.
       
    4. Format
      Sessions proposals should be no longer than one page, summarising the topics, aims and contents of the session. Please use the template provided here and presenting all the instructions for the sessions’ submissions.
